I seem to recall an engagement announcement/celebration at the
IBC gathering during the BCI convention in Washington, DC in
1996. Don't recall who it was, though.

Well, folks were probably _thinking_ about it. :-)

The list appeared in 1992 sometime, and rec.arts.bonsai appeared
in 1993.
