Chinese elm (outdoors and -- with care -- indoors), Ficus (indoors), privet (outdoors and with a bit more care, indoors), boxwood (outdoors), juniper (outdoors), bougainvillea (outdoors whenever possible, indoors in winter), are all likely candidates for a beginning bonsaiest.
