Only two of the businesses on this list would I suggest for a beginner to contact:

Great American Bonsai Company (Tom Brantley) in Ocala

or

Mike Rogerss in Deland - Deland is closer to Orlando.

There is a club that meets at Lou Gardens in Orlando and The Lou Gardens Shop has some books on Bonsai.

If the person doesn't want to drive as far as Deland or Ocala, buy a gift certificate for a book at the Lou Gardens Shop and a member ship in the local club.

There is also a club in Melbourne and Daytona Beach
