Alder leaf many of the Chinese Elms imported from China have the S shape and a

You got me on that one. Could be "rape seed" cakes which are meant to
be placed on the surface of the soil and allowed to dissolve over time.

It does look good in the 'S' shape!

A matter of taste I suppose.
