something keeps depositing a white gunge on my mint ...any ideas?

gunge or froth.

Look up powdery mildew.

Does it look like spit? if so Spittle Bug. If you look inside this goo you will find a little green bug. They dont damage the plant too bad but i still water them off...

I would have guessed at spittle bug too. Looks like frothy spit on the leaves and theres normally quite a bit of it over the plant or bush.
