Can anyone give me any advice on how to rid my freshwater tank of
algee.

It's black (or very dark green)
Very fuzzy... like hair
Grows on plants, rocks, wood

I would just empty the tank and bleach everything but I don't have
another proper place for the existing fish to live. Any advice?

Tell us more about your tank

CO2, fertilizer fish load andt etc.

Looks like my tank when I forget to watch the DIY CO2.

Thanks for the help... looks like the article at "thekrib" has
everything I could ever want to know about this stuff. I think I may
try and find some of the Siamese Algae Eater's and give that a shot.
I actually already did the bleach idea to all the plants and rock in
the tank but without getting all the fish out I could not do many of
the inners of the tank so it spread back over everything in a couple
months. If I could just come up with a place for the fish for a
couple days then I'd be set.

what's my setup?

125 gallon tank
no special fertilizer, co2, or anything... I take the low maintenence
approach to my tank.
4 rather large chiclids and 8 small fish (barbs, etc...)
1 pleco

One last comment. Any thoughts on how hard it will be to find the
Siamese Algae Eater? I live in a large city so I hope my chances are
good.

Be sure you get the SAE...I asked for SAE and i got the chinese algae eater

Yep, let both 64 oz bottles die just after i added 130 wats of light......
what a mess. It's beginning to recover with the hepl of three SAEs.
