Unlucky! Certainly not. I think your Foxglove is one of the 'Excelsior'
strain of Digitalis purpurea. The flowers grow horizontally on the spike and
can be pink, purple, cream or white in colour. A jolly nice and special
Foxglove to have in your garden.

I think your Foxglove is one of the

It is indeed, and there are dozens of them scattered around the garden. All
but this one are in shades of purple or cream, with blooms that hang... and
since D. purpurea is an annual/sometimes-biennial, I'd guessed that this was
just an interesting sport.

Whatever - you're right. It's nice and it's special. :-)
