"The Miracle Houseplants", by Virginie and George Elbert. It's out of print,
but I see a used copy available for five bucks at :
www.powells.com

The book covers the gesneriad family, which includes african violets.
Extremely thorough and informative.
I've had several satisfactory dealings with Powells, and would have no
hesitation about buying from them again.

If you're ever in upstate NY, I'd recommend a visit to the place. But, be
forewarned that it's as dangerous as a casino is to a compulsive gambler.
