Default planting above ground question...

Hey Group,
I'm new here so bear with me. What is the best way to grow trees
above ground (ala' greenhouses/nurseries etc)? Is it a combination of
dirt and mulch...how much would I need...? Any info would be GREATLY
appreciated! The trees are mostly oaks 12"-14" by the way.
Thanks in advance!
Scott
