Default Laying gravel over concrete

I've currently got a particularly nasty looking concrete path which ends in a rather small area of concrete slabs that can laughably called a garden (about 10sq ft!).

To cover this monstrosity I was thinking of a quick and simple remedy of putting down some gravel to cover the area. Is there anything in particular i should watch for when doing this? A base layer, drainage etc?

Thanks,
dave.
