Default Poison ivy question.

When is poison ivy not considered "dead"..iow...if you spray poison ivy with
a weed/brush killer and the foliage is all brown and dead, is the irritant
in poison ivy still a problem?

Yes, it is still a problem, the oils that cause the rash are still
present in the plant material. Do not burn it! Remove it (with
gloves) toss into a trashbag and bring it to the dump.

The irritating compound in PI, urishiol, is chemically quite stable.
Volunteers exposed to 50-100 year old herbarium specimens developed
the characteristic
rash.
