Default Strange Food Garden practices

Oh about 20 years ago A guy I worked with did this as a food garden.

First ran a disc about. Then mixed every thing he wanted to plant with
annual Rye. Then ran a disc again to mix it up. Quite a mix No?

Two months later he would look about an pick what was there and every 2
weeks or when he needed it or when he felt like it would check again.

I Kid you Not!

Bill who says his yields were low per acre but high per effort.
