Yea, but most of us don't hate dogs with a passion that will never
die. At least here in wreck.gardens I'm afraid it's only you who
lets such hatred cloud his heart (and mind!).

It's not hatred. It's realism. You probably don't much like mosquitoes, and
you probably kill a few now and then when they affect you too closely.
There's no fundamental difference between a dog and a mosquito.

Then, there's coprophilia, something which many dog owners are afflicted
with. Why they don't seek treatment is unexplainable.

You're so immersed in your hatred you've lost all sense of proportion
or reason. I don't much like mosquitoes, but my dislike of them
doesn''t cause me to diagnose other people with ailments, that's for
sure....

Everybody is required to like dogs? Is that it? Some people find frogs
revolting. Some people totally freak out when they see a bee, even if they
are not allergic.

Why do you think dogs are so special?

Oh, it's true, he's rabid about his hatred of all things canine.
Relentlessly rabid. I'm done playing with him.

Yeah, you are kinda of a loveable old grouch. ;-)

I am. Sometimes, I paint a big red dot on dogs so when they're running, it's
easier for me to sight in on the heart shot. I ***always*** use non-toxic
paint for this, for the dog's benefit.

Don't they have leash laws in western New York? I have dogs but my yard
is fenced. My dogs know where they can toilet and where they can't. It
was just a matter of scolding them when they picked an inappropriate
spot.

As tacky as it sounds, if an owner isn't going to clean up a mess that
they are responsible for, the street would be a better place than the
sidewalk.

I'm addressing an attitude more than the physically dangerous or disgusting
things dogs do. In places where you're not allowed to keep a goat or some
chickens, people are allowed to keep dogs in the exact same phyical
confines. It's as if they're somehow considered a cut above other animals,
in a category of their own. They are not.

Western NY encompasses a huge area and of many population densities...
depends on where. In cities, towns, and villages there are leash
laws... in rural boonies leash laws don't make sense. Contrary to
much public opinion, Noo Yawk is not all like NYC... NYS is mostly
very rural, in fact it's mostly wilderness. In rural and wilderness
areas you'd no more put a leash on a dog than on cows and sheep, on
deer and coyote. Where I live it's very rural but most folks with
dogs keep them on their own property... occasionaly a dog will wander,
as dogs do, but folks are no more annoyed at an occasional dog poop as
they are with poops from dozens and dozens of other animals... you'd
need to have a Phd in scatology to know which is from domestic dog.
If it bothered me that there're poops on my property I'd best move
into town.

Yeah, but where you live, you can cap the dog and tell the neighbors you
shot a coyote that was harrassing your mail box.

Actually, it refers more often to people who like to handle feces, often for
sexual pleasure. Dog owners like to leave piles of dog crap in public
places. From this, we can conclude that they are trying to share their
little perversion. They want normal people to play with their dog's feces,
just as they do at home with their dog's feces. It's nice that they want to
share, but they should do it on the grounds of some sort of institution
where they are being treated.

How else do you explain people who let their dogs crap in the middle of
paved public footpaths in parks, or in the middle of sidewalks on public
streets? Some, when confronted, will actually say it's not a problem.

Coprophilia, obviously.
