Default May Apples

The other day my kids and I were in the woods and found about 15 may apples.
I know that all of this plant is poisonous except for the RIPE fruit. Only a
couple of apples were ripe. They smelled awesome. Like a pina colada (sp?)

My question is, "what do you eat?". I heard that the seeds were mildly
poisonous as well as the "rind". We "ate" them by squeezing the seeds and
pulp in our mouths, sucking the juice and pulp off them, and spitting the
seeds out. They were great.

Has anyone ever eaten one?

We harvested about 15 large, somewhat green, apples and are hoping that they
ripen off the plant. Any thoughts? We will plant the seeds in the woods
when we're done.

TIA

Ken
