What to do with unpruned rose bush
I am caring for a Constance Spry rose bush that wasn't pruned or anything
last year. In the last few weeks, I have noticed that long/tall/thorny branches with no flowers are shooting up. On those branches, the leaves turn red near the end of the branch. It seems that these branches are growing at lightning speed and eclipsing the flowering part. Is it okay to just hack them off? Is this some result of not pruning it last year? (There are two other rose bushes, and neither of them are sprouting out this way.) Thanks! |
