which japanese maple?
I would like a japanese maple but there are so many to choose from. I
have some very specific characteristics in mind and was hoping that someone here might know of one that would match my needs. I'm looking for a japanese maple that would work for zone 6a, has a weeping growth, a VERY large spread and grows at least 4', preferably no more than 5' with 6' being that absolute largest I can go. Any suggestions? Thanks! Diana |

Red foliage? Green foliage? Starts out red but turns green? Also, where will
the tree be sited? Dave "screamingchild" wrote in message om... I would like a japanese maple but there are so many to choose from. Red Dragon - you might want to get one that has been staked up a bit if you want it a bit taller and then it will spread - otherwise it will be a classic mushroom shape. Kiri Nishiki may be hard to find, but spreads to twice it's height. Garnet doesn't spread as much but grows faster when it is young. Filigree is a nice green dissectum that spreads nicely, as is Green Cascade. |

which japanese maple?
Hi Dave,
sorry that I didn't include these details but I figured that someone would fill me in. Preferably red foliage. If it turns something stunning in the fall that would definitely be a plus. The tree will be sited in the front of the house and will receive full sun and regular wattering from the sprinkler system. Thanks! Diana "David J Bockman" wrote in message ... Red foliage? You could try any of the 'dissectum cultivars' (basically threadleaf/cutleaf like leaves) Crimson Queen, dark red leaves, brilliant red fall color. Best in full sun Evered, serrated leaves Red Select Max height is 8 feet, but it takes a really looong time to get there. -al sung Rapid Realm Technology, Inc. Hopkinton, MA (Zone 6a) |
