Default Confederate Rose mallow

We just put in a Rose Mallow(Zone 7), and cannot seem to get
reliable information on whether it should be pruned. If it should be
Lorraine and Tom pruned--when and how much?

Thanks in advance, Lorraine and Tom

Chances are, in Zone7, Mother Nature will prune it for you. Below 15-20 deg
F will kill it to the ground. Cut it off sometime during the winter to 4-6".
In spring, new growth will come from at or below ground level to make next
Fall's show.
