Default Saving Pumpkin Seeds

Anyone out there have experience saving squash/pumpkin seeds? I am
wondering what care is necessary other than cleaning/drying them and then
keeping them cool and relatively dry for winter.

Does one have to simulate a winter period (vernalisation)?

thanks in advance

Peter
