news:uwW2e.860171$Xk.119224@pd7tw3no... You must have really made someone angry. A killfile is a special type of trojan or backdoor that, as you suspect, has been planted on your computer by an irate and informed usenet person. ISP's allow them if you have violated their internet protocol, such as spamming or abusive language. I don't know what you can do after the fact, other than apologize to whoever it was, and ask for their help. Let us know how things work out. Oh good grief NO! There's nothing on your PC. The killfile is on the angry person's pc. (Let's call him 'Bob'). If you get Bob mad enough, he will add your usenet name to his killfile so that his newsreader will not show any messages posted by you. You become a ghost to Bob, but everyone else can still see you. Most people use killfiles only reluctantly, when someone is being a constant butthead, but there are some who will threaten to killfile you at the drop of a hat. IMO, those people are welcome to do so, and you should return the favour. |
