Default Mailing a Bromeliad

I have a bromeliad that is sprouting several pups (I think that's what
they are called -- where a new plant grows out of the root of an old
one). I want to send these pups to friends through the mail, if
possible. Does anyone know a way to keep it alive without sending an
entire potted plant?
