Default Red Maple Turning Green

I had a Japanese red maple shrub planted last October. In the spring,
it had beautiful red leaves. Entering summer, the centers of the
leaves start showing green, and seem getting greener. What am I
supposed to do? Is it a soil PH or fertilizer issue?

A lot of red Japanese maple varieties do that. Some varieties hold
stay red longer than others. But they all fade to a greener color at
some point during the year. Hot weather and/or shade seem to make
the red to fade more quickly.

Accept it, and wait. Those leaves will turn a beautiful bright red this
fall.

Thanks. Yes, the weather has been consistently hot here in central
NJ,
and the maple is in shade.

Our Jap maple is always red. Leaves never turns green. Even in hot
(90+) weather, dry summers, wet summers, etc.

When the leaves drop in the fall, they're still red.
