Default Masdevallia assortment Mt Beenak X 3

Peter,

Excellent collection of Masdevallias!

Where are these grown? Obviously somewhere that doesn't get too hot!

Default Masdevallia assortment Mt Beenak X 3

Eric,
These were grown and displayed by Clive Halls, proprietor of Mt
Beenak Orchids. His set up is approx one hours' drive to the east of
Melbourne, in a bushy area. While in a generally cool zone, he does
experience the occasional 40 degree Celsius day and several 35C days. He has
a few evaporative coolers (industrial) operating in the hot season to keep
the plants below 30C.
Most of his mazzies have been bred for more temp tolerance, however. He
doesn't bother with high altitude mazzies.
