Collection database
There's a thread on rgo about orchid collection databases. Here's a small part
of mine. Database is a misnomer - it's a spreadsheet. One person's idea on how to simplify record keeping. I find it convenient at repotting time to sort the spreadsheet on "Date Repotted" to list together all the plants needing repotting. Then I can use the "Position" column to find the plants more easily. Setting up the listing takes time, but updating is subsequently a minor issue. To avoid the problem of mis-spelling that Kathy mentioned in the rgo thread, I also give each plant an id in the id column. I only started to include the shelving information in the "Position" column at last year's repot. The blanks in the spreadsheet are plants to be repotted this spring or later. The photo hyperlinks won't work, since they refer to a separate drive on my computer. Hope this may help.
