Ray is EC important for SH if your flushing every 2 week or is it more
important to get you fert mix right, I'm wondering because one of my Phals blooms faded and are in the process of dying after 2 weeks with my new mix. Jack |

EC is no more- or less important with semi-hydro culture than with any
other. it's more plant-dependent, unless your water supply is terrible to begin with. If you are watering properly (fill the pot to the top and let it drain) and the fertilizer solution is of the proper concentration (I find 100-150 ppm N to be a good, general rate), it is sort of "self flushing", so doing so with clear water periodically is unnecessary. If you are doing such flushing with pure water, then you could be seeing a reaction to wildly fluctuating pH. Further, if you transplanted the phal into S/H two weeks ago and it was in bloom, the transplant shock alone could be the issue. -- Ray Barkalow - First Rays Orchids - www.firstrays.com Plants, Supplies, Artwork, Books and Lots of Free Info!
