Unhappy Help! Broke flower stem.

Please help! I have an oncidium that was shooting up a flower stem that is about a foot tall now. The other day, as I was swatting at a fly buzzing around my orchids, I accidently swatted off the tip of the flower stem! The tip has now become brown and shriveled. My questions are (1) Will the flower stem still produce blooms? and (2) Is there any way to coax more growth out of the stem?

Thanks for your time.

if there are any signs of buds immediately below the break point, you might
get a few. If not, sorry, but you'll have to wait for the next spike.

Rarely, they can branch, but I wouldn't hold my breath!
