Is the correct name for a plant received as Fockea tugelensis Petopentia
natalensis or Pentopetia natalensis? Pentopetia natalensis Schlechter, Journal of Botany (London) 32: 257 (1894), 34: 315 (1896) You're on AOL. Next time you have a question like that, just type the name in that field on the toolbar. It will tell you everything. I better correct this fast, before Cereoid kills me.
Fockea tugelensis is Petopentia natalensis. He explained it all in an article for the Maryland cactus & succulent journal. Iris, Central NY, Zone 5a, Sunset Zone 40 "If we see light at the end of the tunnel, It's the light of the oncoming train." Robert Lowell (1917-1977) |

The latter gets a name that expresses the close relationship to the former genus. In this case an anagram of the existing name. Quite awhile ago, too (fifty years now). PvR |

Poor Rinkytink. You have obviously lived such a sheltered life in the mud
hut of your that the meaning of the joke was completely lost on you because you have never seen Star Trek. That you are even able to run your little computer on a gasoline powered generator quite amazing. "P van Rijckevorsel" wrote in message ... "Plants in cultivation as Fockea tugelensis have proven not to be that species
but are actually another caudiciforn not at all closely related and correctly named Petopentia natalensis (Schlechter) Bullock." So why am I dead? I should have worded it more carefully that the two are not actually the same species, but one of them has been misidentified. Dead in the water. You were lost but now you are found! You have finally
seen the light!!! The plant was never Fockea tugelense at all!!! If you had ever seen the plant, you would have noticed that neither the leaves nor the flowers look anything like those of a Fockea. In reference to what?
Tacazzea natalensis may be a synonym but Petopentia natalensis is the accepted correct name for the species. "IntarsiaCo" wrote in message ... http://www.cactus-mall.com/clubs/fockea.html Petopentia natalensis or Tacazzea natalensis? |
