Is the correct name for a plant received as Fockea tugelensis Petopentia
natalensis or Pentopetia natalensis?

Pentopetia natalensis Schlechter, Journal of Botany (London) 32: 257 (1894),
34: 315 (1896)

You're on AOL. Next time you have a question like that, just type the name in
that field on the toolbar. It will tell you everything.

I better correct this fast, before Cereoid kills me.
Fockea tugelensis is Petopentia natalensis. He explained it all in an article
for the Maryland cactus & succulent journal.

I see, one of those cases where a species is removed from a genus into a
newly created genus. The latter gets a name that expresses the close
relationship to the former genus. In this case an anagram of the existing
name. Quite awhile ago, too (fifty years now).

Poor Rinkytink. You have obviously lived such a sheltered life in the mud
hut of your that the meaning of the joke was completely lost on you because
you have never seen Star Trek.

That you are even able to run your little computer on a gasoline powered
generator quite amazing.

"Plants in cultivation as Fockea tugelensis have proven not to be that species
but are actually another caudiciforn not at all closely related and correctly
named Petopentia natalensis (Schlechter) Bullock."

So why am I dead? I should have worded it more carefully that the two are not
actually the same species, but one of them has been misidentified.

I get the message: we should ignore your postings because they are just
"jokes" you make to yourself.

Hint: if you kept the results of your self-satisfying typing safely home on
your own harddisk it could avoid a lot of irritation by people who
mistakenly think they should read your postings.

In reference to what?

Tacazzea natalensis may be a synonym but Petopentia natalensis is the
accepted correct name for the species.

Dead in the water. You were lost but now you are found! You have finally
seen the light!!!

The plant was never Fockea tugelense at all!!!

If you had ever seen the plant, you would have noticed that neither the
leaves nor the flowers look anything like those of a Fockea.

Nobody was talking to you anyway, Rinkytink, you party crasher. You are one
of those rude dudes who likes to interrupt conversations with inane
irrelevant comments and self promotion that disrupts the flow of discourse
and adds nothing to the sharing of knowledge. Why don't you just mosey up to
the bar, get yourself another rum and coke, sit down and behave yourself?
