Default New filter media

We have a 2000 gal pond that has a 3 barrel filtration system. One of
the medias we were using , the mattridge type stuff, finally gave up
the ghost. it couldn't be cleaned, was falling apart, so we replaced
that barrel with SpringFlo like one of the other barrels. Sure wish
we'd done it sooner, we can see fish now, YAY. The water is clearing
rapidly!! Spring-Flo rocks. But I have to go see if the tancho is
still missing. This fish is too beg for bullfrog food, over a foot
long, and isn't floating, so that's good news. We've been having a
terrible algae problem this year, and I pray this is mostly the end of
it!!

Well we found the tancho - he lost his red head. That is the 2nd fish
to lose it's red. The first was a Dianichi Kohaku that we paid dearly
for. Both of these fish were in the pond for years before this
happened. The tancho is over 10 years old.

How disappointing. Anyone else have this happen,....or know why it
happens??
