Can you tell by feel or smell if it's oil? Water leaked in to my
BigVersa
last summer and kept flipping the breaker. We let the water out and

dried
it for 24 hours, reset and tightened the seal with a lot of Vaseline and

so
far so good.

As far as I could tell it looked, felt, and smelled like water. I suppose
if it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, then it must be a
duck....

I found a reference on a website that says "environmentally safe, oil-
less". So I guess I'm safe to fix it and throw it back together.

I'll have to pick up some vaseline. Normally, I'd use wheel bearing grease
for something like this, but probably wouldn't be too good for the pond!

That's what we did with ours. It worked fine. Let it dry out good before
resealing it.

I also avoid such grease around ponds.
