Default Female Goldfish self spawn?

I have one goldfish in the lily pond and today I found a bunch of white
balls the size of fish eggs when I was raking out algae. Obviously not
fertile (white) and no other goldfish in the pond. Do females sometimes
drop eggs without assistance? ~ jan

I think I've heard of that, but no personal experience. It's better than
becoming egg-bound, I suppose, although most just reabsorb the eggs.
