Default SNAILS WANTED

Well, someone spoke to me about trap door snails. My pond

is a 70
gallon baby and i am unsure if ping pong ball sized snails

would wipe
out all the plants or just the excess algae.

It's my understanding the Japanese trapdoor snails
don't eat plants, they do eat algae, and since they're
livebearers they don't reproduce that often. I started
with maybe a dozen two years ago and after a
search of 3 ponds today, I *think* I found one!

OR, if this would be too
small for them. I had some little black snails and that's

about all i
know.

I don't know either.

In case Jammer prefers your black snails to my
common Ramshorns, I'll wait to send any snails
until I get clarification from Jammer.

I wasn't sure. The reply appeared threaded to me, but had your email address...lol.

It doesn't take much to confuse me.

What is the best way to mail snails through snail mail? In a jar? I assume overnight?

Same here!

Never done it before. I was going to use several
layers of ziploc bags containing pond water, some
anacharis, and the snails. But that's a wild guess.
Maybe someone else knows. I figured priority
mail would be fast enough, but I don't mind being
corrected.

Put in an ice pack when you mail
snails and make sure you are
going to be home when they are
arrive.
You do NOT want to open a package
of cooked snails that have sat in the
full sun for hours. Been there, done
that!
