Well ya know, a cat shows his love for his owner "supposedly" by bringing
home "the catch of the day" and depositing at their feet. Why not a frog

I recon the goldfinch had drowned/was drowning in the water and the frog
tried to eat it, finding it rather too large and the feathers hard to
manage regurgitated it...


I have actually seen a bulfrog eat a small bird. In this case it does
sound like it was too big for him to swallow.
