Default Multiple buds on 1 branch, is that "bad?"

Hi Hi, :-)

I have been noticing on some of the roses, about 3-5 buds opening up on 1
branch. Is this an ok thing? Or am I doing something wrong when I cut the
branches?

Thanks,
Emil

Emil, the more buds, the more flowers, right? It's the best unless you
want one great big humungous bloom.

Of course the more, the better. I was just curious as to if it was an
incorrectly growing aspect.

Thanks,
Emil

*Nothing* is "incorrectly growing" if it produces more flowers. You come up
with another way for them to grow that produces more flowers, and it's the
"correct" way!

What kind of roses? That's normal for most floribundas, grandifloras and some
other types of roses. Even some Hybrid Teas regularly bloom in clusters
although most are one to a stem.

It is okay, but on my grandifloras and hts I sure don't like it. I
hate seeing a spray of buds at the top of a lonnnnnggg cane. The
blooms always turn out smaller, too. Here is what I do if I am paying
attention at the first budding stage: I pinch out a bunch of the side
buds, and make the rose make one or two good-sized roses. I like that
better. You can do it with floribundas to a point, but they are
supposed to bloom in sprays, and as they are usually shorter and
bushier the sprays look better on them.

Or am I doing something wrong when I cut the

Not--but out of curiosity, how do you cut them?

Thanks,

Ummmmm, I just grab the branch and cut. :-)
Seriously though, I try to cut a 45 degree angle, and close to a 5 leaf
branch. I believe that's they way I have read to do it?

They occur on my Hybrid Tea's. The multiple buds have appeared on my new
bareroots that were planted this year: JFK, Tigress and Moonshadow.
