Default Here's one for ya...

I'm gettin Corn Beetles on my roses -- small beetles, medium green
with a few black spots.

Are these good guys or bad guys? I mean, are they predatory to bad
guys (spider mites, aphids, etc) or are they in cahoots with 'em?

Are you sure they aren't baby lady bugs? This is what they look
like in my garden. (Not that I have any idea of
when babies appear in your area.) Where are you and why
do you think they are corn beetles? What IS a corn beetle,
anyway, and if it eats corn why would it eat insects? Inquiring minds!

I used to find a few Northern Corn Beetles crawling in the rose
blooms before the Lady Bug invasion that began a couple of years
ago. I think at some stage they eat corn roots. I don't think
they had much of an effect on the roses other than being visually
disconcerting crawling around the blooms. I know I did not spray
them and I would have if they were causing any serious damage.

Charles
