Seeds of discontent
U.S. farmers are worried that a new global agreement that would govern
the way they raise and sell crops would include too many compromises
with other countries, benefiting overseas competitors.

US farmers are worried ? ... LOL. They're some of the most protected and
subsdised farmers around (with the europeans). I'd like to think they should
be a bit worried ... but doubt they have any real cause for 'concern' in the
medium to long term. Agricultural competition ? ... we wish

This stuff has been going on for years. Currency exchange rates,
drought, wars, safety inspections, and probably a bunch of other things
influence U.S. farm profits. As you probably know, GM crops have come under
a lot of scrutiny from the EU.
I've read of concerns regarding the United Nations and environmental
regulations. The concern is the U.S. would cede too much authority to
outsiders regarding U.S. land use, for example.
