M&S also today! The area that contained clothes last week is now full
of Christmas stuff! Has anyone heard Christmas music in shops yet? It
won't be long! I pity the shop assistants. We haven't had Hallowe'en
yet!

England must be slipping.

In Scotland, all the shops have got Halloween AND Christmas
decorations. I'm a bit peeved that they aren't stocking Valentine's Day
and Easter stuff yet.. How about a Christmas tree decorated with little
red flashing demons and hot cross buns?

I don't pity shop assistants - they do have the choice of getting a
proper
job.

Really? my daughters 15 and working as a shop assistant outside of
school, what other "proper job" do you suggest?

Equal -opportunities chimney sweep, or match-girl.

...no lawnmowers at all , not a single one, it appears to be a bloody
Xmas decoration shop now. Havent they heard of global warming, the grass
never stops growing now?

Garden centres are for plants, if you want a lawnmower, pick up the Yellow
Pages and look under lawnmowers. Where you will find garden machinery
dealers that sell lawnmowers all year round.

It was Sunday, they were all closed (OK the three I drove to were)

How are they finding Bangalore at this time of year, a bit hot?

Arf! No, they've gone straight now -- if being students qualifies as
"going straight": if they'd been offered a free trip to Bangalore I'd
have elbowed them out of the way myself!

Wonderful place if you are a gardener/plants person.
Known as the Green City.

About a month ago I went into a major discount chain for some 'gardening
stuff'...not only was the whole area devoted to Christmas junk but so was
the music...H
