A few years back I ordered 3 clematis from T&M, the garden then got
neglected and we actually thought the clematis had died. We were delighted,
when after clearing the garden out, all three have come back. Two have now
flowered.

Only problem is (as you might have guessed from the subject) is that I can't
remember what varieties they were so don't know what to do about pruning
them. I've even phoned T&M, but all they have on their system is that it
was a large flowering collection.

Dredging the depths of my memory I think 2 of them were Comtesse de Bouchard
and Ernest Markham. The third I think was Marie something Polish sounding
(I've tried googling and looking up some books but nothing rang a bell).

Clematis 2 started flowering at the end of June and continued flowering to
the end of September. Lots of lovely pink flowers. I think it's Comtesse
de Bouchard

Clematis 1 has started flowering in the last couple of weeks. I don't know
if this is its usual flowering period or if it's been knocked out of sync
due to it having been late growing this year.

Photos of both are he

Any thoughts and suggestions as to what varieties they are and how best to
care for them is much appreciated.

N°1 reminds me of "Le President" or "Jackmanii". Very nice blue,
indeed !
Good luck,

Fred

this site has pictures for most varieties, although unfortunately for you they're by name and not colour coded, but you never know

I agree... n°1 looks completely like my Jackmanii. And it does start to
flower a little late here too.

Thanks both - I think you're right. In my muddled memory I must have got
Ernest Markham and Jackmanii confused. Here's hoping the frosts stay away a
little longer so that all the buds it has can open.

Yes it's very good - I'd already had a rummage. You can do a search by
colour at http://www.clematis.hull.ac.uk/clemlistsearch.cfm which can narrow
things down nicely.

There is a Clematis called 'Marie Boisselot'. It is an early,
large-flowered white form. Could this be the one that has no flowers yet?
