Does this tell us something about the seasons or is it just that they weren't grown in these particular gardens? As for me, all that is in flower here is a choisya ternata which has never really stopped flowering. We have thousands of snowdrops here but none that flower yet. There are so many different varieties but some of ours are showing through the ground now. Apparently, there was one variety in flower in Cornwall at least a month ago and it had never flowered that early before. -- Sacha www.hillhousenursery.co.uk South Devon (remove the weeds to email me) |

Just went and dug out the pot from its summer hiding place and sure enough, there's a cluster of buds, though they have not dropped yet. Now they're shifted to a visible position. Not sure they'll be out NYD though as the stems are still quite short, but you never know. Now that you've released them they'll probably romp away, though. I have a lot of 'favourite flowers', so it's a real joy to see the cycle of enjoying so many favourites starting again. Now, if I could just grow lily of the valley, I'd be even happier! -- Sacha www.hillhousenursery.co.uk South Devon (remove the weeds to email me) |
