Default why no weeds on an old ant hill ?

whilst walking in a cemetery the other day i saw a few old ant hills that
had built up quite high on some old graves. the soil in the ant hill looked
very crumbly and powdery. but i was curious that no grass or weeds are
growing on them, although they are obviously some years old. why might this
be i wonder?
