A plant survives! Plus question about Datura Ballerina mix
Just been inspecting the family acres. ;-) Our tiny back yard that is. Found some new shoots coming in a pot that I am almost certain is my chocolate cosmos. :-) I thought the cold winter had done for it, so it's pleasing to see it survived. Will take it back to Abersoch at the weekend - assuming we go of course, weather looks a bit iffy. But I'm dying to see which plants survived the winter there, and hopefully will get beans and sweet peas planted out there too. If the rain holds off sufficiently. None of my seeds have sprouted yet. :-( Inspect them all several times a day, no sign of anything. Sniff. Prob too soon, nasturtiums have only been in since Monday, likewise second sowing of Canary Creeper. Only got 2 plants from first sowing of that, but they're doing well. Anyone got any handy hints for germinating Datura? I'm going to soak in warm water, but not sure if I can arrange bottom heat - I assume putting pots on a tray ovar a radiator would be too hot? Can't afford a proper propagator at the mo as just bought new computer as well as overspending on plants when we visited daughter in London the other week. It says to plant in March, but it's only May, so might as well at least give it a go! ;-) Maggie in sunny Liverpool |
