Default Apple Days in Devon

There will be an Apple Day on Sunday October 15th at the RHS garden,
Rosemoor. The bumph says:
"Sunday 15 October 2006 - RHS Rosemoor, nr Great Torrington - three apple
displays from RHS Garden Rosemoor, Thornhayes Nurseries, and RHS Garden
Wisley. Apple tastings; identification* by the South West Area Fruit Group;
apple pressing; local apple products including cheese, cider and juice;
advice on growing apples; apple cookery demonstrations. Event runs. 10am -
5pm. Contact: 01805 624067, or see www.rhs.org.uk"
and on the same date at Cockington Court, Cockington, nr. Torquay:
"Sunday 15 October 2006 - Cockington Court, Cockington, Torquay - this is
Cockington's 14th annual Apple Day celebration and will include the usual
apple antics. There will be apple bobbing, orchard walks, children's apple
crafts, cider pressing on a Victorian cider press and an apple room with
over 200 varieties on show. A Food Marquee will showcase over 20 producers
from across Devon including local cider producers who will be running a new
cider bar. Visitors can also get stuck in to apple bread making in a clay
oven and enjoy music, morris dancing and a fine juggler. Cockington Court is
a stunning 450 acre Country Park and 17th century Manor House in the heart
of Torquay. All proceeds go to conservation charity the Torbay Coast and
Countryside Trust. Admission £3 adults, children free. Free parking.

Up here, a local(ish) nursery Bernwode, maintains a database of over
13,000 distinct apple varieties and sells about 300 varieties of apple,
as well as other types of fruit tree.


Waterperry have one which is on 14th October 2006 - 15th October 2006
Their bumph says

"Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy our celebration of the English
apple. There will be a display of up to 50 different apple varieties
grown at Waterperry. Taste our Apples and up to 15 Apple Juice
varieties. Expert advice will be available on growing fruit trees and
identification of apples from your garden.
Local produce, vegetables, jams, ice-cream, bread and much more will
also be available to taste and buy.
Special apple orientated menu in the Pear Tree tea shop see below
Fun for the children, dancing from Long Crendon Morris men"



They have special apple and [ear menus in the cafe and so on.
