Could someone please advise why my sprouts don't have any substance to them?
They're just a few outer leaves with nothing firm inside. This is my first
time growing them.

Thanks.

It may well be that they are not in firm enough soil, my Father reckoned
that if you had to plant them with a crowbar you would have good tight
sprouts. Never had to do that but I do make certain that the soil is
well compacted before planting.

I'm also wondering if the dry weather this summer has had an effect as some
of ours are also as Susie described and I can't believe it's because of soft
ground in our case as I do firm them in well and then puddle them in, always
have done.

Susie, you didn't plant them too close by any chance?
