Default compost - ants

I'm using my two dalek compost bins on my allotment.
Yesterday found that there were lots and lots of ants inside one of them.
Is this beneficial or harmful - if harmful what do I need to do to eradicate
them?
Thanks in advance

No.

Like woodlice, they are generally an indication that it is too dry.
Correct that, if true, and ignore them. They will do neither good
nor harm.
