Not quite true. "You are what you digest/absorb" is closer to the truth.

Now this is a bit of a commercial

I happen to be an incredibly fit 70 yr. I don't take it for granted, because
my first wife died of cancer many years ago.

But, what I did realise then was that the medical profession, as a whole,
knew little about nutrition, and not much has changed on that front. The
drugs cos. seem to have most of them in the palm of its hand.

We can, of course, grow as healthy food as we can, but we still cannot
escape all the alien chemicals that are floating around. These put our
bodies, in particular the immune system, under stress, needing additional
nutrients.

It seems that this nutrient requirement could only be met by eating not 5
but 10 portions of fruit and veg. each day, assuming they have the required
nutrients. But do they ? i doubt if supermarket tomatoes, picked green, have
anything like the required nutrients. Anyway, how many of us can eat the 10
portions ? And, due the the deficiencies of much "commercial" food, you may
need much more. Enter food supplements.

Many friends say, "You are so healthy, why do you take food supplements ?"

Simple answers,

firstly, I am selling them, (commercial bit !), so I think that I should be
a demonstration that they have done me no harm !
Secondly, they are the best sort of health insurance, IMO.

The company I am with is a "Rolls Royce" in the industry. They have managed
to change USA Law and some USA universities send Ph.D. students to their
labs.
