Thank you Sacha, as you can see, it is in the new sitting room, the
Summer sitting room, well it will be when the builders complete it at
the end of September, come and see for yourself.

What - two weeks in Turkey, back home "hello everyone and now we're pushing
off to France". How I do wish.... ;-) But rebellion would threaten! I
read a bit on the Net about that part of France and it sounds wonderful. It
won't happen for us this year but maybe next. The Plymouth-Roscoff ferry is
terrific!

If we do, someone else's holiday gets wrecked...... ;-( Mon vieux homme is
still running a business. Can't do it, dear Judith, not this year, anyway.
Next year is another matter and that would be worth a bit of planning.

Lucky you Judith to get the patio doors in. We ordered some new patio
doors to replace the old ones (they were getting stuck in the runners)
that was some time in May. Have heard nothing from Everest since then
apart from one July day when they said they were coming round the next
day to fit them. Then phoned up at 7.15am to say they had lost two of
them..............

Oh Janet, how frustrating. How can they lose two enormous doors - perhaps
they were 'liberated'? ;-))

Actually the doors replaced the barn doors, what you see in the pic is
part of the barn which is attached to the house. They are 2metres 80
high and 3metres 20 width, which is pretty big! The French firm who
made them were very good, they came and measured, fitted and all done
when they said they would.

They look good and sturdy. I imagine they replaced wagon doors?

They did, the horses with carts would first use them and then in the
1950's huge hay trailers would go straight through. You will see it
one day. I will have an urg meet, when I am settled and it could be
that a few of you could use the house as a base for starting a
European holiday or even stay with me for a few days.

Yes the entire doors are 14 foot wide so losing two is incredible! I'm
going to wait as long as possible then send a really loud complaint to
someone high up.

Imagine if they were new doors, we would have not seen the garden for
four months as the builders in 1979 originally left the extension wall
with a boarded false wall while we waited for the new doors!
