How important are they?

If someone holds a door open for you, what do you say as you walk through?
Anything or nothing?

Do you rate Waiters etc as 'Servants' to serve you without the need for a
thank you?

Just a thought.

And the gardening point is??? Think you sent to wrong group.

Mike's problem is that he can't tell the difference between a chef and a
customer. (Or rather he's just trying to make trouble, which is why he's
a long-term denizen of my killfile.)

I actually think it's rather amusing that one of the rudest, most
ill-mannered people on usenet should try to lecture us all about
'Manners'.
