Unlikely, assuming you have worms.

Just spread a little compost and sand every year, or better, make a
large compost heap, adding shredded paper, cardboard, straw, weeds,
kitchen waste, (rat poison!) and similar stuff, feed regularly with
urine, cover with straw in the autumn and peg/weigh down over it a sheet
of black polythene - sold by some garden centres, but usually found a
lot cheaper from builders' merchants. (Ask for 'membrane')

Leave over winter, and the worms should do the rest.

his method has the advantages of waste diposal, minimal hard work, and a
fresh area can be treated each year.

Oh, and if you can get seaweedhorse/cow/pig manure to add to the mix of
stuff you're piling on, do. Try to get the seawed from above high tide
mark, and it will have had most of the salt washed-out.

Chicken litter is excellent too, but it can take a couple of years to
decompose to the liking of anything but celery and cauliflowers.
