Default How to use a Dutch Hoe

Whilst hoeing this morning, neighbour called and said that was a strange
way to hoe!

I use the hoe by sliding it along just under the surface of the soil,
thus cutting off or uprooting most of the weeds (but of course this wont
necessarily work with grasss, buttercup etc).

Neighbour said she uses the hoe more as a small spade, just digging it
right in to lift out the whole weed. (sounds more like hard work to
me!).

How do you hoe?

All depends what I am hoeing! Annuals can be hoed like you are doing,
separating root from top but deep rooted perennial weeds need to be dug
up completely.
Personally I love my Swoe which is ideal for working round plants etc.
and I wouldn't be without it

It's a Hoe not a spade, your way is how it's done.
