Default Rare tree flowers for first time in 90 years

A rare Chinese tree that put down roots in Ireland more than 90 years
ago has flowered for the first time. The Goat Horn Tree was brought
home from Sichuan in western China by plant collector Ernest H. Wilson
in 1908.

These stories often turn out to be about not-very-rare things, but in this case it seems it is both very rare in cultivation in British Isles and rare in habitat. The proper name is Carrierea calycina, and here's a nice article aobut it. http://www.davidsonia.org/files/carrieria.pdf
