These are the type of things, as in this page of the argos on line
catalogue.

In the paper catalogue they also list a Bosh for £79.

Would anyone have experience of these types of saws for cutting into
*green* wood, and perhaps could recommend a particular one?
Thanks.

For a one-off job it might be better to hire it. There are plenty of
hire shops in yellow pages.

I say that if you have to hire a chain saw, you shouldn't use one at
all. You need proper protective gear and a training course such as the
ones run by the ATB. I suggest you forget the Argos catalogue, too. A
cheapish bow saw with a brand-new blade is not only safer, it's often
quicker for a typical small job like yours anyway. And, as young Pike
says, if you take it easy and use the whole length of the blade it won't
be much of an effort.

If it's the tree I think it is, you'll need to get the stump out, as it
will resprout.

Where are you? If you're near(ish) to Milton Keynes then I'd be happy to
pop over & deal with it for you with my Stihl - I'm trained, but never
got round to doing the exams so not ticketed.
